Passage was created after returning from Portugal, where studying with master colorist and landscape painter Andrew Faulkner influenced my approach to color, harmony, and painting. The experience of working in an unfamiliar medium also reinforced something I had been thinking about in my own life: the courage it takes to move toward what we deeply desire.
For me, this painting represents turning the desires we imagine for ourselves into something real. The passage suggests a threshold into the unknown, a place where fear, insecurity, and vulnerability may still be present. Moving forward does not require their absence. Sometimes courage is simply choosing to enter anyway.
